Dr. Stephen (Steve) K. Robinson is a professor at University of California at Davis, after retiring from NASA in 2012, where he directs the UC Davis Center for Human/Robotics/Vehicle Integration and Performance (HRVIP).
His 36 years of distinguished service at NASA include numerous honors and awards–four shuttle missions, three spacewalks–and extensive expertise in spacecraft systems, space robotics and scientific payload operations. As a research scientist, his areas of interest include turbulence flow physics and modeling, experimental techniques, instrumentation, 3D scientific visualization, applied aerodynamics, safety engineering and applied cognitive psychology.
Stephen Robinson enjoys flying, antique aircraft, kayaking, hiking, drawing, painting and stereo photography. Plays lead guitar in Max Q, the all-astronaut rock-n-roll band; also plays stand-up bass, banjo, mandolin, pedal-steel guitar and cello.
